Mary Espie, Senior Administrator for English Language Teaching, officially retires from the University on 10 August 2017, after more than 17 years of service.
Mary started her career as a Data Processor/Secretary with the University in the School of Geography and Geosciences in 1999. She spent most of 2000 in New Hall as a Receptionist before joining ELT as a Senior Administrator in January 2001. With her eye for detail, detective and deductive powers, strong work ethic and supportive working style, Mary has been a key member of the Admin Team in ELT. Responsible for the administration of everything from student admissions to staff absence, from fire drills to financial records, from essential maintenance to emergency plumbing, Mary is well known to many staff throughout the University, including in Registry, Finance, Accommodation, Admissions, Estates and Student Services. Those who have attended meetings and call-outs to ELT will be familiar with her warm welcome and ready offer of a cuppa.
To mark Mary’s leaving, we are inviting friends and colleagues to contribute to a collection for her. Contributions should be made by Friday 18 August 2017.
There will be a an ‘open-house’ for Mary on Friday 11 August 2017 from 4-5:30pm in the XL room at ELT, which you are most welcome to attend.
